Pulll Out Your Sunscreen

Spring has sprung.  Shorts and sandal season is just around the corner.  If you’ve passed on the sunscreen through the winter months, I can’t say I blame you.  I don’t spend much time outdoors in the winter.  When I do, it’s running from car to house or car to work and not much else.  Being in the middle of Canada, in the middle of winter, in my opinion, means, we can pass on the sunscreen.  Of course, if you’re being active outdoors while you walk the dog or head out on the snow mobiles, that’s different. Slap on the sunscreen.

But double digit temperatures are just around the corner!  And we Saskatchewanians LOVE being outdoors as much as possible after a dark, cold winter.  Reach into the back of the fridge and pull out that sunscreen.

Now, if you didn’t follow my advice last fall and you didn’t stick your sunscreen in the back of the fridge, double check it’s expiration date to make sure it’s still good.  If it doesn’t have an expiration date, check texture, color and smell.  If any of these seem different to you, pitch it and pick up a new one.

If you are in the market for a sunscreen, look for skincare brands that are Dermatologist Created NOT just Dermatologist Recommended or Approved.  What you put on your skin goes into your body.  Your skin is an organ of absorption as well as elimination.  Put good stuff on, not just in, your body.

As always, if you have questions about sunscreens or skincare, you’re always welcome to call.  You’ll always find me to be friendly, patient, and ready to help.

Happy Spring!
