LoL
I stole this before and after photo off the blessed internet because it’s a perfect example of what I call Pore Shaming.
Photo-shopped before. Photo-shopped after.
Pores are like nostrils themselves. Everybody has them. Some people have more, some less. Some people’s are more visible, some seem invisible.
Take my husband Quentin. His pores seem invisible except his nose.
My pores are on the large side as I have oily skin.
Pores are a fact of life.
One photo I thought about stealing had a caption that read “Close Pores Permanently.”
What??
Impossible.
Blessed internet. I hate it for the liars and Pore Shamers. I love it for truth telling and people who help us breathe a sigh of relief and feel better about ourselves.
You have pores. They’re not bad. They’re necessary. They function along with sebaceous glands to lubricate and protect your skin.
They function along with sweat glands to regulate body temperature and excrete waste.
You can’t get rid of them.
Yes, you can make them look less visible.
Vacuum them. That’s called Microdermabrasion. An emptied pore looks smaller.
Tighten your skin. As skin gets lax with age, pores expand and look larger.
And stop looking in magnifying mirrors! Unless you are trying to pluck the 4 delightful chin hairs (me) that you can feel but you can’t see, or you’re putting on eye liner and you’re on the cusp of needing bifocals (me), don’t look.
Staring at your pores at 20x their actual size is Self Inflicted Pore Shaming at its finest.
