To Collagen or Not To Collagen
Collagen gets a lot of attention. People want to increase collagen production in their skin so as to keep it young and beautiful. However, ingesting collagen does not turn into the collagen in the body. Collagen that is ingested by drink or capsules is broken down by the digestive processes.
When the body digests collagen, it creates good hydration and lubrication. For people with dry or dehydrated skin, this hydration and lubrication from the inside can make their skin look more plump and dewy. Their skin is moisturized from the inside out.
It’s for this reason that knees and other sore joints often feel better when we ingest collagen.
For people with normal, sensitive or oily skin, they can end up feeling greasy, looking shiny, having skin breakouts or little rashes and reactions.
So the question is,, how do we increase the production of collagen in our skin if not by eating or drinking it?
We eat good quality protein and we take vitamin C. These two building blocks are at the heart of collagen production.
